Wait in His goodness.

Wait in His strength.

Wait in the knowledge of who He is being the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

There are the parts we see. And there are the parts we don't.

There is a season to a plant. Seasons to water and watch. And a season to harvest.

And there are times when you did exactly what you were supposed to - but nothing grows.

But there's fruit in that, too. In coming up short. In disappointment.

🔹️Don't judge your process.🔹️ Or anyone else's. Chances are, God is doing a great, impossible work that you will never see.

I'm glad it is up to Him and that I get chances to partner with it.

"What is it to you?"

In the final chapter of the gospel of John, there is a decidedly playful narrative where I can hear the contented, playful smile hiding behind some of Jesus' conversation with the disciples.

He asks about their fish and cooks them breakfast. And I realize that He is gently healing those last pieces of their hearts that had broken when he died. Jesus is taking time not to teach them one last thing and offer final wisdom.

Here, we get to see Jesus repairing relationship with them, his friends. The playful echo of days gone by, sharing a good meal together as they had done so many times, it all speaks to their hearts.

The grief and uncertainty in Peter, however, was dealt with directly. Even here, Jesus is gentle and compassionate, not berating him with "I told you so" tones. Sometimes, I wonder if he asks so many times so that he can break through Peter's bravado.

Peter deflects loosely one last time, asking about John. But Jesus airily replies, "what is it to you?" Because what difference does it make if Jesus has different plans for another disciple. Be faithful, hopeful, and passionate about the plans he has for YOU.

This is life after Easter - faith meeting the road as we move forward.
